Have a project you need help with or require ongoing support?

Our clients tell us we bring the most value when we work with them long-term through a retainer.
At the same time, we understand that associations often have special sector-related initiatives or receive funding for a specific program or project. If this describes you, let's talk and see if The Ways and Means is the right option for you.

About
The Ways and Means is a marketing agency focused exclusively on helping associations and other membership-based organizations achieve their marketing and business goals.
Why associations? Because what you do matters. You ensure high-quality services and standards, help address public policy challenges and foster innovation. The Ways and Means helps you matter more.
Meet our founders
It began over a cup of coffee.
Jamie McIntosh and Jim Reil had decades of experience successfully operating award-winning digital and creative marketing agencies. In 2022, the agency they were leading was sold and they exited the business. But soon they got together at a coffee shop and realized that they missed the challenges of the marketing world and weren’t ready for early retirement.
They looked for an agency to acquire, but after talking to dozens of agencies it became clear it was time for a new kind of agency. One that can help associations, societies, councils and foundations from across the globe grow membership, increase relevance and build their reputation within their industry, with the public and with all levels of governments. An agency that understands the nuances of associations and doesn't get frustrated by balancing "the big idea" with "stretching resources."
So in 2025, after countless meetings and cups of coffee, they founded The Ways and Means - Marketing for Associations, a new agency that already has 30 years of helping associations achieve their marketing and business goals.
